This Yogurt Bowl is when you need a filling, healthy breakfast idea in 5 minutes flat. We are definitely a yogurt girl so we could eat this for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner all day, every day! Yogurt was a staple growing up in the Balkans and something we enjoy often. We are a huge lover of plain yogurt and like to naturally sweeten it with honey, nut/seed butter and berries. If you know us, you know this on rotation in our household and we hope it be in yours as well.
What stands out
A Yogurt Bowl is a great way to pack in a lot of nutrients quickly, and deliciously. You’ll get protein from the yogurt, fiber from the seeds, healthy fats from the nuts and seeds and a healthy kick of antioxidants and vitamins from the fresh berries. This bowl not only tastes it LOOKS: with beautiful colors, a swirl of nut butter and sprinkle of seeds, it’s a feast for all your senses!
How to Prepare Yogurt Bowl
First, add 1 cup of plain yogurt to a bowl.
Now, use a spoon to swirl in 1 tablespoon of your favorite nut or seed butter.
Drizzle with honey or agave.
Then sprinkle fresh mixed berries on top.
Finally sprinkle any seeds you enjoy, such as hemp hearts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds or chia.
Enjoy!
Kitchen tip
If you’re allergic to nuts, please use seed butter for this recipe. Additionally, any toppings will work so get creative!
Swaps
- You can make this plant-based and dairy-free if you use your favorite non-dairy yogurt and agave or maple syrup instead of honey.
- Feel free to use any yogurt you love. If you don’t like plain yogurt you can find a good quality vanilla yogurt and use that as well but the honey will most likely not be needed as vanilla yogurt is usually sweet enough as is.
- Use whatever fruits you love: kiwi, pineapple, mango, pomegranate seeds, banana slices or peaches would all be.
- Use a variety of toppings such as granola, a sprinkle of cinnamon or shredded coconut.
Serve it with
- Your favorite breakfast protein, such as eggs bacon, turkey bacon or our Homemade Breakfast Sausage Recipe.
- A lovely stack of our Healthy Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or Cottage Cheese Pancakes.
