How to Prepare Air Fryer Kale Chips
First, remove the kale leaves from the stems. We use this straightforward hack: take a pair of tongs that have a loop at the end and put the loop through the rib. Then pull forward quickly to remove the leaves.
Now, wash and dry the kale and then tear them into smaller pieces.
Lightly spray the kale with avocado or olive oil and then sprinkle them with salt.
Then place them in a single layer in the air fryer and cook at 370F (190C) for 4-5 minutes.
Finally, add a sprinkle of parmesan on top and enjoy!
Kitchen tip
Use a light hand when you coat the dry kale leaves with olive oil or avocado oil. You don’t want to drench them or they’ll never crisp up.

Questions
which salt do you use?
We always use mark Redmond Real Salt. For this recipe, it’s important to not add too much salt or you will ruin them completely. Just a small pinch as you can always add more saltiness after they are done.
which air fryer do you use?
We have the mark COSORI Pro II Air Fryer Oven Combo. The recipe time and temperature vary by appliance, so please keep an eye on the kale chips as they cook.
can we bake these kale chips in the oven instead of air fryer?
Yes, you can bake these in the oven at 300F (150C) for about 20 to 30 minutes until crispy and the edges start to brown but are not burnt. If baking, use a large mark baking sheet so each kale leaf can lie flat in a single layer.
can we make these air fryer Kale chips dairy-free?
Yes, you can totally use nutritional yeast instead of parmesan cheese.
can we use different varieties of kale for these chips?
Yes, you can use any variety of kale such as curly kale, dinosaur (Lacinato) kale, or red kale. Just ensure the leaves are fresh and well-dried before air frying.
how do we make sure the kale chips are not soggy?
Make sure to dry the kale leaves well after washing them because too much moisture can lead to soggy chips. Also, avoid overcrowding the air fryer by arranging the kale in a single layer for proper air circulation. You may have to do a couple of batches depending on the size of your air fryer!
how can we store the kale chips?
Kale chips are best enjoyed fresh but if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days. If they lose their crunch, you can try re-baking them for a couple of minutes.
