Seriously, folks, these Mini Pizza Dip Cups are beyond belief. When I first conceived of this idea, I knew it had the potential to be a hit, but the execution truly elevates it to another level of deliciousness. First, let’s consider pizza dip – a concept that, in itself, is genius. It takes the comforting, familiar taste of pizza and transforms it into a scoopable, shareable dip. But we’re taking it a step further. We start with delicate wonton wrappers, bake them until they achieve a glorious crispiness, then fill these golden shells with a rich, creamy, and exquisitely cheesy pizza dip. A second round of baking ensures everything is melted, bubbly, and incredibly gooey. The result? A perfectly contained, intensely flavorful, and utterly satisfying snack. They are, quite simply, ridiculous in the best possible way.

The Ultimate Crowd-Pleaser: Why These Mini Pizza Dip Cups Are a Must-Make
This recipe holds a special place, not only because it brings you these incredible mini pizza dip cups, but also because it coincides with a significant milestone for Fox and Briar: our one-year blogiversary! I initially planned a sweet, elaborate dessert to commemorate this occasion. However, after creating these savory mini pizza dip cups, I simply couldn’t wait to share their magic with you. They truly embody celebration in their own right. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for reading this blog, whether you’re a first-time visitor or have been with me since the very beginning. Your engagement—every read, comment, and share—means the world to me. This blog is a labor of love, a genuine piece of who I am, and I am profoundly grateful for your part in its journey.
Now, let’s pivot from that heartfelt cheesiness to a more tangible form of cheesy goodness – the kind that involves three glorious types of cheese, robust pizza sauce, and zesty pepperoni, all perfectly nestled within a crisp, golden wonton shell. Wonton wrappers are an absolute gem in the world of appetizers, offering incredible versatility and a fantastic textural contrast. For this recipe, we utilize standard-sized muffin tins. To ensure adequate coverage and a sturdy cup, I recommend using two wonton wrappers per muffin cup, strategically overlapping their corners. This technique ensures that all the edges of the muffin tin are beautifully covered, creating a perfect vessel for our dip.
The secret to their exceptional crispiness lies in par-baking the wonton shells before adding the filling. This initial bake guarantees they achieve that delightful crunch, preventing them from becoming soggy once the creamy dip is added. While the shells are crisping up, we prepare the rich and flavorful filling. This involves combining softened cream cheese with a fragrant blend of herbs and spices, then layering it with generous amounts of shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese, followed by a dollop of vibrant pizza sauce. For the sauce, I personally love using my go-to Easy 20-Minute Marinara, which comes together in a snap and delivers authentic flavor. However, feel free to use your favorite store-bought marinara or pizza sauce – the key is a quality base.
Crafting the Perfect Topping: The Magic of Mini Pepperoni
One detail that truly elevates these mini pizza dip cups is the inclusion of mini pepperoni. While I genuinely wanted to use pre-cut mini pepperoni for ultimate convenience, I sometimes struggle to find them readily available at my local store. But fear not, culinary adventurers! I discovered a delightful improvisation: using the back of a frosting tip to cut regular-sized pepperoni into charming, smaller circles. Was it a little fussy? Perhaps marginally, but the end result was undeniably adorable and well worth the minimal extra effort.
If you’re lucky enough to locate mini pepperoni at your grocery store, by all means, use those! They save a step and are perfectly suited for this recipe. If mini pepperoni remain elusive and the thought of meticulously cutting individual circles seems like too much bother, a simpler alternative is to just dice regular-sized pepperoni into smaller, more manageable pieces. The goal is to have smaller, evenly distributed pieces that fit well within the dip cups and provide a burst of savory flavor in every bite. However, I must admit, cutting them into those sweet little circles wasn’t nearly as difficult or time-consuming as one might imagine, and it adds a touch of gourmet flair to your presentation.

Tips for Perfect Mini Pizza Dip Cups Every Time
Achieving perfect mini pizza dip cups is simpler than you might think, especially with a few handy tips:
- Don’t Overfill: While tempting, overfilling the wonton cups can lead to spillage and longer baking times. Stick to the recommended amounts for the best results.
- Cream Cheese Temperature: Ensure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing. This creates a smooth, lump-free base for your dip.
- Pre-Baking is Key: Don’t skip the initial bake for the wonton wrappers. This step is crucial for achieving that desirable crispiness that holds up to the moist filling. Without it, your cups might become soggy.
- Cheese Quality: While pre-shredded cheese is convenient, freshly shredded mozzarella melts more smoothly and offers a superior texture. If time allows, shred your own!
- Marinara Matters: A good quality marinara or pizza sauce makes a significant difference. Whether homemade like our Easy 20-Minute Marinara or your favorite jarred variety, ensure it has a robust flavor profile.
- Experiment with Toppings: While pepperoni is classic, feel free to customize! Cooked and crumbled sausage, finely diced bell peppers, olives, or even a sprinkle of cooked mushrooms can add delicious variations. Just ensure any vegetable toppings are finely diced and perhaps sautéed beforehand to avoid excess moisture.
- Garnish for Freshness: A sprinkle of fresh basil or parsley after baking not only adds a pop of color but also a fresh, aromatic note that brightens the rich flavors.
- Serving Temperature: These taste best warm and fresh out of the oven, allowing the cheese to be perfectly gooey. If making ahead, gently reheat them in the oven until bubbly.

30 minutes
12 Servings
Ingredients
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 8 ounce brick cream cheese I used reduced fat
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 1 cup Easy Marinara or your favorite marinara/pizza sauce
- 36 mini pepperoni or 18 regular pepperoni that have been cut into smaller pieces I used turkey pepperoni*
- 3 garlic cloves pressed or minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- cooking spray or oil for brushing
- pinch red pepper flakes optional
- chopped fresh basil for garnish optional
Instructions
-
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Spray a regular-sized muffin tin with cooking spray or lightly brush with oil. Place two wonton wrappers into each cup, overlapping the corners to ensure the entire edge is covered and forms a sturdy cup. Lightly spray or brush the wontons with a little more cooking spray or oil. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until they just begin to turn golden and become crispy.
-
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, dried oregano, pressed or minced garlic, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until all ingredients are well combined and smooth.
-
Remove the par-baked wontons from the oven. Evenly divide the cream cheese mixture among the 12 wonton cups. On top of the cream cheese, sprinkle a small pinch of grated parmesan cheese, followed by approximately 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella. Next, add about 1 tablespoon of your favorite marinara or pizza sauce. Repeat with another pinch of parmesan and another tablespoon of mozzarella. Finally, place a few slices of mini pepperoni (or cut-up regular pepperoni) on top. Continue this layering process until all muffin tins are filled.
-
Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the wontons are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is beautifully melted and bubbly.
-
Allow the Mini Pizza Dip Cups to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before carefully removing them. Serve them hot and fresh for the best flavor and texture!
